Arrests Made in Connection with Armed Robberies and Drug Investigations in Leipzig
In a series of events that began following an armed robbery at a betting office on July 16, 2025, the Leipzig Criminal Police Department, in collaboration with special units of the Saxon State Criminal Police Office, carried out a joint operation at Paradeplatz in Bad Düben on August 2, 2025.
The initial investigation was prompted by press release No. 264|25. The investigations by the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Leipzig Criminal Police Department uncovered that the suspects are believed to have committed at least three armed robberies in gaming arcades in Leipzig and surrounding areas.
At the remand hearing on August 3, 2025, a detention order was issued for four of the suspects. These suspects include four men (16/Syrian, 22/Syrian, 20/German, and 26/German) and one woman (20/German).
In addition to the armed robberies, the investigations have also revealed violations of the Narcotics Act and the Weapons Act. Over seven kilograms of crystal meth and 17 kilograms of hashish were found in one apartment during the search.
Preparations for a possible raid on a gaming arcade in Bad Düben were discovered in early August. It is being examined whether similarly motivated armed robberies in Central Germany can be linked to the suspects.
